The Blackhawks opened the season on the road at Western Boone in Week One. The game started strong for the Stars, putting 15 on the board by the end of the first quarter. At halftime, the score was 28-2 Stars, the Hawks scoring on a safety in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, Trent DeCraene received a 20-yard pass from Caleb Alexander to add 6 points. Gavin Schwerdtfeger scored on a rushing touchdown to close the game. Both of Owen Bell’s extra points were good, but it was too little too late, as the Hawks fell to the Stars, 35-16. The Hawks rushed for 64 yards, Eli Kolb leading the team with 56. The Blackhawks also threw for a total of 51 yards, and DeCraene led the receivers with 48 total yards.
In this Week Two match-up, both teams look to bring their record to 1-1. The North Miami Warriors were defeated by the Manchester Squires in Week One, 34-24. The Warriors rushed for a total of 247 yards, and they threw for 45. Kody Whann led the Warriors rushing with 74 yards. The Blackhawks' defense looking to rebound after the loss will need to focus on stopping the run game as the Warriors heavily rushed in Week One.
